The PhD student Alex Grammatikos of Carleton University (Ottawa, Canada) and the graduate student Elli Karampela of Aristotle University (Thessaloniki, Greece) who have attended our Student Conferences have kindly offered to do volunteer work for the Messolonghi Byron Research Center.

ALEX GRAMMATIKOS
I visited the Messolonghi Byron Research Center for the first time in 2013 and was amazed by the comprehensiveness and diversity of the library's collection. The Center is very well organized and managed by the President, Mrs. Rodanthi-Rosa Florou.
The 2013 International Student Byron Conference was an exceptional experience at which I had the opportunity to share ideas with a range of scholars from different countries and to meet other students from around the world.
The excursions planned by the Messolonghi Byron Society also gave attendees a great opportunity to visit sites that Byron had travelled to over 200 years ago, which allowed for a unique cultural experience. I can't wait to return to Messolonghi for another conference!

ELLI KARAMPELA

I participated in the 8th International Student Byron conference in May 2013. It was a truly life-changing experience as I advanced my scholarly studies by being exposed to original and challenging presentations and conversations, communication and exchange of ideas with people from all over the world.
I also got to know the valuable work of the Messolonghi Byron Society’s Byron Research Center, which houses a wide-ranging and valuable collection of Byronic works and Romantic scholarship. I was embraced by its friendly community and realised the wide influence of Byron and his work internationally.
The Messolonghi Byron Society’s Byron Research Center keeps the Byronic fire burning by promoting understanding of the role Byron played in Greece as well as of his crucial place in global literature and history. It also keeps Byron’s vision alive, fusing the local with the international and contributing to the advancement of knowledge by supporting young scholars and by fostering a community where professors and students learn from each other.
I definitely recommend participating in the Student Byronic Conferences!
