The programme begins with the hymn to Byron written for the 100th anniversary of his death, and continues with arias from Giuseppe Verdi’s opera The Two Foscari as well as an independent Rossini piece dedicated to the death of Lord Byron. Also featured are poems by Byron set to music, including “She Walks In Beauty” and “The Maid of Athens”, and excerpts from the operas Despo and Markos Botsaris by Pavlos Carrer.
